If you're like me, you know you have something on hand to help you, but after searching the stable or tack room in vain, you can't find it anywhere. Is there even a product on the market designed solely to reduce inflammation?

WHAT IS THE INTEREST OF A NATURAL ANTI-INFLAMMATORY FOR HIS HORSE?

Today you can make a natural anti-inflammatory product that is safe for horses . When I started working with essential oils , it was to fill a void in the market for my own use. I didn't want to add chemicals to my horse if I didn't need to. Myself, my horses and my children became guinea pigs while I experimented with ingredients and compositions. I found that some oils were more effective than others, while some popular oils tended to react badly with equines. Soon I found a combination of ingredients that worked quickly and effectively to relieve pain and swelling topically. My pony and my bodywork clients tend to agree, so now I keep my anti-inflammatory handy in my tack box and with my gear for easy access. My products are handcrafted and not available in major retail stores. So I want to help you make your product at home. If you also want a horseshoe bracelet, you can take a look at our shop.

ABOUT ESSENTIAL OILS AND THEIR USEFULNESS FOR HORSES

An essential oil is a liquid usually distilled (most often by steam or water) from the leaves, stems, flowers, bark, roots or other parts of a plant. Essential oils are concentrated. When working with horses it is necessary to dilute them as they are incredibly potent . Essential oils cross the blood-brain barrier, so their topical use can be absorbed into the bloodstream and affect the entire body from within. Also, since they are natural, the body welcomes them and absorbs them more easily rather than fighting the chemicals through an immune reaction. There are a variety of essential oils known to reduce inflammation and therefore relieve pain . These oils have warming or cooling properties, but all have pain relieving and anti-inflammatory abilities.

COOLING

Cooling properties are best for reducing inflammation and making puffiness go away. In addition to relieving pain, you can use this same product to cool your horse in the summer after a bath!

Refreshing oils:

- Peppermint - Eucalyptus - Sandalwood - Lemongrass

WARMING

Warming oils tend to relieve sore muscles more by warming the muscle and relieving pain, as they tend to have antispasmodic abilities. For hard working horses, these oils are more beneficial.

Warming oils:

- Thyme - Incense - Marjoram - Clove - Bergamot

WHERE TO BUY ESSENTIAL OILS?

Don't buy your essential oils at the grocery store. Use only oils that have gone through a rigorous vetting process and have been awarded a therapeutic grade seal. You will find that there are many essential oil products on the market today. It is difficult to choose them and decide which way to go. You can buy some on voshuiles.com for example. Always buy organic and therapeutic-grade oils, regardless of the brand you choose.

THE RECIPE FOR ANTI-INFLAMMATORY FOR HORSES

To make your own natural anti-inflammatory for your horse , you will need: A BPA-free 100ml container with a fine droplet sprayer. A carrier oil like Fractionated Coconut Oil, Almond Oil, or Arnica. 10 to 15 drops of essential oils. Use a funnel to add the oil to your container, filling about ⅔ to ¾ full. Then add the oil or oils of your choice to create a blend. Peppermint and eucalyptus are perhaps the most common oils on the market due to their potency and adaptability. Tip: You can also use them to naturally repel most insects. Or let your horse choose! Horses are extremely sensitive to everything, especially smells. Bring a variety of the oils above. Take them out one by one and offer them remotely. If your horse turns away or sneezes, this is probably not the oil for him. But if he comes closer and inhales, opens his mouth and lifts his lips, or tries to open his mouth, then you have success in your hands.
